lavender dying from bottom up

It has been nothing but rain here in CT and yet several of my newly planted Munstead Lavender, planted in full sun, appear to be drying up and dying. It's been in there for about 6 months and is slowly dying off - firstly some of the lavender started to get white spots on the leaves, then they started dying from the bottom of the stem creeping upwards.
